Expogranel, S.A, is the sugar loading terminal responsible for the reception, storage and loading of the sugar for exportation produced by the Guatemalan sugar mills. Is located at Puerto Quetzal in the pacific ocean shore in the south coast of Guatemala about one hundred kilometers away from the Guatemalan capital. Expogranel, S.A. counts with specialized equipment and personnel highly trained, that constitutes one of the most efficient terminals for loading sugar in the world and unique in its class in Guatemala.
We are part of the Sugar of Guatemala, which is made up of 11 sugar mills that are unionized of the Guatemalan Sugar Association (ASAZGUA). The sugar agro industry has created three organizations specialized in research www.cengicana.org, social responsibility www.fundazucar.org and exports www.expogranel.com, which have had a positive impact on the development and growth of the sector and Guatemala.

At the end of the Eighties, the Board of directors of the Guatemalan Sugar Association (ASAZGUA), with futurist vision, initiated investigations on designs of specialized sugar terminals in ship's loading, in order to open new markets and making the Guatemalan sugar a more competitive product at world-wide level. After studying several proposals, at the end of year 1991 began the design of the loading terminal in Puerto Quetzal, which years later would become the facilities of Expogranel, S.A. The Guatemalan sugar agro industry is one of the few in the world that counts with an exportable production greater than its necessities for internal consumption.
